I have a respect for you, but this is really lame gotcha. 1.) He's not saying it isn't or never was beneficial to our survival. 2.) We don't live in prehistoric times anymore. Evolution also made us desire lots of calories and that is still a problem today

Health ≠ evolutionary fitness. This should be obvious to someone who spends so much time thinking about sexual selection.

Health is basically survival, and while true that survival ≠ evolutionary fitness it is extremely likely that fear had a net plus effect for survival.

“Bad for health” and “evolutionarily useful” are not mutually exclusive, or we wouldn’t enjoy potato chips.

Right, an adaptation doesn’t have to be adaptive right now, but hadn’t you had feelings of fear you’d probably be dead now. Hatred and anger are still probably good indicators as to what is not good for our health.
