Lately people have been telling me gender identity is a thing you feel - that you can 'feel like a woman', for example. But I legit don't understand what that means. Does feeling like a woman mean you want to wear women's clothes? Or have a vagina? Or get sexually pursued?
What % of the time throughout an ordinary day do you consciously, actively 'feel like' whatever sex you identify with? (e.g. 'feel like man' or 'feel like a woman')
Read an essay once from a woman who took lots of testosterone. Said it "flattened out" her emotions. As a guy, this makes sense. My day-to-day is directed, focused efficiency to get things done; emotion would just get in the way. Suspect this is what "feeling like a man" is.
I too take exogenous testosterone. In my case it doesn't so much feel like my emotions are flat as that i am much more in control of them. Also, I'm more likely to feel ok about feeling negative emotions like anger.

I’m not sure that’s true because I often worry about how I am communicating masculinity but never feel like a man, or a woman, or anything in particular. I think this is like the internal dialogue thing, where both sides look at each other over a gulf of mutual incomprehensiblity

Excellent! I've been thinking about this. I don't actively think about any of my immutable characteristics very much. They just are. What I do think about is my character, my values...those things that make up the most meaningful parts of my identity and are changeable.
0%. Thinking about my gender doesn't feel natural to me.
Can't answer because I still don't know what it means to feel like a woman. As opposed to being aware that I am one.
