On the whole, has social psychology had a positive or negative influence on the world (including problems solved and exacerbated, time and resources spent, jobs and knowledge gained, public trust in science [probably lost], procedures and methods developed, etc.)?

I think these broad utility estimates tend to be dominated by effects on the long-run future, e.g. how humanity deals artificial intelligence, war & conflict, and moral circle expansion. So I say yes, for making society a little more thoughtful about social relations and biases.

Agreed. And it's striking how little attention social psychologists paid to those issues....
