Ironically, a great book on the evolutionary psychology of cooperation is Selfish Gene by
@RichardDawkins and it's often touted as making the opposite point (which is why Dawkins regrets the title to this day... Too bad the title is all that some people read) -
As I recall, Dawkins mentions several rejected titles in the preface, one of which was Immortal Coils. That would have been a much better title, both aesthetically and practically speaking.
