Unless your landlord is a personal friend, why pay rent? Evictions will be completely backed up. No way can they evict everyone. Rational economic move is to not pay, negotiate a better lease, or tell him to take you to court. That'll be a very long process.

Squat. Grant ownership to all squatters after a certain time. Reincentivizing ownership in a round about way. I’m cool with destroying the rentier.

So who exactly builds new housing then?

2/What will actually happen is cronies connected to fountains of credit creation will buy up distressed properties, will be far nastier landlords than ma & pa operations ever were. Whether hiding behind socialism or not remains to be seen, but won't matter all that much.

Or the government gets more involved in owning housing, which will create worse conditions, worse development, and graft.

Not to mention, doing that would make you the kind of person who doesn’t do what you’ve committed to do. Thankfully, plenty of people still have an innate sense of integrity.

1/What the deer in the headlights thinks: "That car will have to stop. If it didn't, it would hit me." That's the plan, to bankrupt landlords. Openly discussing elsewhere. What they think will happen is gov'ts buy it up⇒socialist or communist housing.pic.twitter.com/SlVzhtzhHd

Sure, but frankly how are individuals that can't afford rent supposed to be held responsible for this situation?
