Am I an idiot? Or can’t you literally just turn off the lights and keep a few security guards in a museum and turn it back on a few months later (assuming the employees are getting benefits)? It’s not like the city is going to evict them for taxes and art doesn’t degrade fast.

The employees wouldn't get paid, but otherwise, it seems like museums are among the _most_ resistant to getting shut for a while of any institutions, and then bouncing back given donors who want seats on the boards.
