In first-year law school (1980), the exams were graded blind and a curve was forced. 65 or worse a D; 66-75 a C; 76-85 a B; 86+ an A. Half of the class had to make 75 (or lower), and half 76 (or higher). Students that had never made a B in their lives were making Cs and Ds.
