Normally 1000 years (35 generations) wouldn't be enough time for substantial speciation, even with absolute partitions. Are you suggesting CRISPR-like technologies might speed that up?

If we had some super advanced version of CRISPR that allowed radical genetic transformations to be made and unmade that might put an end to the concept of reproductive divergence. You could just get a genetic dongle to interface with that different species, as could the offspring
