In 1,000 years, how many species (significantly distinct, reproductively divergent varieties) of humans, humanoids, post-humans, and/or human-adjacent AIs will there be?

Normally 1000 years (35 generations) wouldn't be enough time for substantial speciation, even with absolute partitions. Are you suggesting CRISPR-like technologies might speed that up?

Yes. All kinds of transhumanism through tech could happen...

There’s this version of the Peter’s principle that says that any intelligent species reaches the level of systemic risk it is unable to handle.

I think the Netflix series Altered Carbon is an interesting look. I’m in business development in the genomics space of the biotech industry. It’s coming and it’s coming fast. Anti-aging tech is 7-10 years out, for example.

Question: what will AI species look like? Meaning, if species is categorized by ability to replicate, but AI builds many different shapes of beings, but still is doing the replication - will this count as "species"?

Speciation will occur shortly after we begin colonizing space and will ramp up, likely exponentially, with the development of AGI and SGI.

'reproductively divergent varieties' will become irrelevant in regards to whatever form humans are going to take in a 1000 years

Shocked that anyone would pick more than one. 1000 years is a short amount of time, evolution-wise! What is the reasoning?

Magic. "Evolution" through genetic engineering, technological augmentation, etc. A *tailored* evolution, if you will.
