I have been going through different stages of panic over the pandemic #. First stage was waves of nausea/anxiety about the impending doom, then survival-oriented prepping/action, & now depression. What’s next? Gallows humour?

Great idea. I’m reading about early Christianity and the power of faith. I’m not a believer. But it’s still inspiring. This is an extremely difficult time for a full-blown neurotic with massive health anxiety.

i watched about 4 hours straight of hip-hop dancing/popping last night. that helped. (^_^)

Yes. I've been thinking a lot about this, and thinking back to when I was doing longitudinal trajectory mapping of mental health outcomes following natural disasters. Cognitive flexibility & knowing that stress response is normal & temporary, were predictors of resilience.

It's not being 'not stressed' by these events that will help. Concern is valid, and will help drive needed behaviour change for
#flatteningthecurve. But protective measures also need to consider our mental health through this adjustment period. I look forward to your thread :)

Meditation or Boethius's The Consolation of Philosophy. Happiness cannot be dependent on the wheel of fortuna. The thought of, or actual, impending death is a great opportunity for awakening; we fear the fear more than the fear itself. <3
