@FiveThirtyEight had a discussion on this recently. Consesus was this is likely more of an urban/rural, and education level divide than a straight partisan divide. For instance, Fox News is taking corona virus quite seriously.

I would imagine that “back in your day” the major news networks still hadn’t absolutely butchered their credibility with the American people. I honestly assume if one day Fox News or CNN reports an asteroid on its way to earth they’ll try and spin it and no one will believe them.

9/11 was the end of an era in hindsight.

I have to wonder if there are any hard numbers on the number of people who have outright stopped watching the news in the past 4 years.
