Has it been established that panic is an evolved response? It sounds a bit like saying bleeding-from-an-artery is an evolved response. (But this is perhaps simple ignorance speaking on my part.)

I don't know how common this is, but for me, there are different types of panic. One of these gives me so much stress that I get into a zone of immense productivity. Another type purges me of stress so I can later enjoy things without questioning them or having bad afterthoughts.
