PS I say this as a huge fan of @sapinker, who I agree with about >80% of issues, and whose books I've often assigned in classes. Friends can disagree about things.

You are right Mr. Miller. However, consider the other aspect. What if the cure emerges from a nation/society outside of the physical borders? Would you be willing to be lenient to acquire the solution regardless of borders - abstract or otherwise? Thanks.

Nationalism allows trade in goods and ideas. It allows cultural appropriation. It's not the same as witless xenophobia that rejects everything foreign.

Still, international coordination gives us early warning, and might allow us to slow the spread elsewhere, which keeps us safer at home, too. Some of the recent funding cuts were unfortunate. Also, how tightly do you want to seal all of the air/land/sea borders?

We should do maximal international coordination, but minimal international travel, IMHO. Fortunately the Internet still works....
