What is the best contemporary defence of utilitarianism? (I.e. that defends against the argument that it opens the door to crazed hubristic genocidal dictators that believe they are acting in a manner consistent with utilitarianism?)

Sounds like craziness, hubris, and authoritarianism are the problem, not whatever moral theory the dictator claims to espouse.
