How many will have ever had the chance to read the contents of that beautiful book? The kindle and cheap paperback have brought books closer to the mass of people than we could have imagined. That they are seen as disposable is a sign of the success and not failure.

Is it even readable at this point? After 300+ years, i bet the thing is about to fall apart from as much as a stern look.

In 33 years every single written document will be digitally backed up... after 330 years how many books printed back then have survived? Nostalgia is not always reminiscent of a better alternative.

He’s not making a Luddite argument, he’s making a basic point about how much more fragile digital is than physical media. All that digital data is susceptible to sustained power outages, magnets, degradation of some physical back up forms, etc. Lots of dependencies.
