I encounter this whenever I talk about Nikki Haley as a threat to Democrats and my democratic friends always think it’s absurd to think republicans would vote for a woman. It’s bonkers.

Well there have been studies showing that Republicans are better as guessing a Democrat's stance and views than Democrats guessing a Republican's stance and views. (Independents are better at both) Them echo chambers are real and it also shows who's open-minded and listening.

When there’s a group that view most opposition as evil and themselves as fighting for what’s good, overestimating prejudice comes as a part of the deal. Not at all surprised considering they also vastly underestimate how much those on the right donate to charity.
