A Swayer mini gives up to 250.000 gallons of filtration of almost any common water source. And they are fucking cheap :).
We don't have many water sources here in New Mexico, apart from city supply....

If shit gets bad, you gotta ditch urban environment and hit the bush. Doesn't hurt spend 20 dollaridoos on a portable filter. Buy some water tank if you got some money to spend. Can hold 1000 gallons easy.
