'Intersectional' is one of those words favored by folks insecure about their vocabulary size. The ones who confuse syllable count with semantic precision. The ones who always say 'methodologies' when they mean 'methods'. The ones who bombed the SAT Verbal.https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/elizabeth-warren-intersectional-campaign/ …

Intersectional is literally the most basic word to describe it. It talks about policies at an intersection of identities. Doesn’t get more straightforward.

How is 'intersectional' better than 'complex', 'mixed', or 'mosaic' to describe the fact that we all have complex identities with many parts, facets, dimensions, and roles? Or is it 'better' because it assumes we are nothing more than the overlap of our identity labels?

@adamcarolla has a bit where he makes fun of the way police speak to civilians during the course of their duties..."Okay sir what I am going to need you to do is exit the vehicle by placing your left foot on the ground and attempting lateral ambulation in a sidelong manner..."

Too bad minority voters aren’t necessarily into intersectionality.

It makes me flinch, too, when people who mean 'method' say 'methodology'. But 'intersectional' has become an established term, a bit like 'critical theory'. We can put it in scare-quotes, but it's hard to entirely ignore established usage in communicating with others.

Especially given that she’s not very “intersectional” definitionally or theoretically.

In practice, Intersectionality is just new versions of "divide and conquer". Good text about it:https://areomagazine.com/2017/02/15/the-problem-with-intersectional-feminism/ …
