It's all about scale and leverage, if your job is providing value to one person at a time (ie : Walmart cashier) don't expect to make the same amount as someone who helps thousands of people per minute

It can be simultaneously true that, especially in era of gig economy (though many gig economy startups aren't profitable) companies offer few protections and screw low wage workers, and lobby to keep doing same, AND AOC is utterly full of shit on 95% of economic issues.
