Credit to whoever said it first but "the best ban on a product is to create an alternative that is so economically viable that considering the use of the prior technology seems ludicrous."

Minimizing nuclear is pretty high on the list.

I remember the push to switch to plastics being told “do you know how many trees had to be cut down for you to have that paper bag?”

Funny anecdote but perhaps not helpful. It looks to me like reuseables (on the corporate and consumer side) are the best way forward until we can make the perfect single use, instantly compostable, consequence free grocery bag.

Plastic bag bans are not just stupid and massively inconvenient, but contribute to deforestation by forcing us to use flimsy, inefficient paper bags. They are another example of mindless eco-tribalism from an insensate left that is as self-righteous as it is wrong-headed.

Also, I’m leery of siding on the “it’s up to consumers” side of this, the bulk of the progress needs to be made by the big companies that would rather shift the blame on consumers.

Oh IDK, I'd love to see straws go. Just drink from the cup. Seriously, it's not so hard. Plastic bags? Not so sure.

Many people with disabilities and other conditions need straws. I love straws and will pay extra for real ones if I have to. These flimsy paper thingys are absolutely ridiculous.
