Surely, you are kidding? How do you suppose we talk to kids about distributions when they don’t know integrals?! You don’t just use calculus. You use more advanced concepts from real analysis and measure theory.

Learning Probability and Statistics without calculus is like learning physics without calculus, sure it makes sense but you don't really know what's going on.
-
Great point. Even Newtonian physics can't be understood without a firm grasp of calculus.

I had the opposite experience. Derivatives are an extremely important concept to understand. Why not teach both? And why not through in some Bayesian reasoning while were at it?

Take calculus in high school so you dont have to take it in college. I didn't realize all my AP classes meant I didn't get to take any electives in the humanities, which were my favorite subjects.

APs just seem like extra work, if you like something take honors. What are the real chances of getting a 4 or a 5. Lots of people bombs the AP.
-
4 of my kids got a 5 in AP Calculus.
