Mutations are inherently poor subjects of an all or nothing argument. You should know better.
He is not saying that at all. If there are hidden benefits, recessive mutations will be carried forward in the population. If a mutation is deleterious in all combinations it will be be eliminated quickly. But one point is that we are just learning why some “bad” genes persist
