The family structure we’ve held up as the cultural ideal for the past half century has been a catastrophe for many, @nytdavidbrooks writes. It’s time to figure out better ways to live together.http://on.theatln.tc/I7yq54B

Polyamory is growing in popularity, but, IMHO, it needs to be better integrated with the best traditions of long-term commitment, pronatalism, & family values.https://quillette.com/2019/10/29/polyamory-is-growing-and-we-need-to-get-serious-about-it/ …

The replies to this are great examples of moral psychology & virtue signaling - almost everyone replied with gut-level, self-righteous disgust to a relationship pattern they don't understand. - almost nobody read my article, which already addressed every concern expressed.

You aren't going to get the benefits of traditional marriage in polyamory. You just aren't.

Cheating is the biggest issue that destroys long and short relationships, when your relationship is open to begin with it pretty much eliminates that problem. Does it potentially open door for others? I suppose it does, but those are in comparison much more manageable problems.

Cheating is destructive because it violates trust. The interesting question is does polyamory build more trusting relationships where certain traditional beliefs are transcended? Or does it instead tend to shuttle people people into a larger number of shallow relationships?

Lot of people just putting knee-jerk reactions in. Defending monogamy is a bit silly also considering how few people actually are monogamous. Lot of people of course SAY they are monogamous, but in actual reality people are making commitments and still fucking around.

I live in Philippines which is very christian place, yet you still see couples cheat on each other all the time. So maybe its time to accept people aren't any good at monogamy and try to figure out a better way. At least polyamorists are honest about what they want.
