Agree. Also, government buildings should look like government buildings, not like regional corporate offices designed by Corbusier-worshipping misanthropes.

Yes. Point of grand spaces is frisson of knowing you belong in them. So even lowly taxpayer there to file a form feels a participant in the country's greatness. They should be monuments to republicanism.
