Thanks to many academics like yourself, @BretWeinstein & @jordanbpeterson and many others- I’m hopeful that things are changing.
I’m no academic. But outsiders like me appreciate those who challenge the corrupt dogmatic priesthood that is damaging our institutions.
Tenure wont save you from them attempting to fire you.https://thefederalist.com/2018/07/09/wisconsins-marquette-decision-big-win-free-speech-signals-trouble/ …
And let’s not forget Tyler Cowen’s advice for promoting public intellectuals longevity is not to rock the boat by calling out others when they’re wrong:https://marginalrevolution.com/marginalrevolution/2020/02/how-public-intellectuals-can-extend-their-shelf-lives.html …
We had a saying about politicians: Becoming one to affect real change: Until you make it high enough to be the change you want, you'll have compromised so much, you will not be the person any more who wanted the change, you will have become what you stood against.
Besides the person w it, how does tenure benefit anyone? Also, why only academics?
I've been meaning to ask my brother something along these lines. How safe is tenure? it seems I can recall a couple (not more) removals in the past years.

It's not just that. Even if one has tenure, one wants graduate students to do grunt work, grant funding to pay them, other resources to work with, cooperation with colleagues etc. All these are liable to be disrupted badly if one suddenly starts voicing risky/heretical opinions.
