I miss the old (20-30 years ago) format of: Discovery Channel National Geographic Channel Science Channel History Channel Was it really less biased back then or was I unaware of the bias?

The bias - including, for many decades, Attenborough's own bias - was in favour of suppressing the steadily accumulating bad news for fear of putting viewers off. Doesn't seem like bias now to start including it in modest doses.
