I’m glad you’re lecturing on this, but why have they never heard this before? Surely many of their parents are married or at least monogamous? They shouldn’t have to learn this in school.

Parents may have discussed monogamy according to their understanding, but there's a whole science behind monogamy & marriage that isn't well known outside academia.

Good for you. The biggest cause of childhood poverty is single motherhood. It never fails to astonish me how many “educated” women have allowed themselves to be convinced that marriage is somehow oppressive. They’ll think oppressive while shopping at the thrift store.

There are benefits to nearly all healthy styles, and you do not do this, but demonizing the other is so odd. I'm married and monogamous. I don't need others to see that as THE way for it to be my way.
