The thing Orwell got wrong was that the always on telescreens were forced into everyone's homes by the Party. What actually transpired was that we voluntarily queued up to buy them and carry them with us everywhere we go.

Privacy will soon be remembered only in antiquity. The tech we have today has a cost/benefit analysis that has been poorly measured at best and used malevolently at worst. I believe the latter.

Much of it already has. I've watched the days of $50 CPM dwindle down to $0.50 and then, of course, the eventual removal from Google's advertising because your originally martial arts-based website has too much "violence". I'm not going to data-mine our 300k members info though.

Hate to break it to you, but simply putting AdWords or GA on your site already contributes to the data mining.
