The point is who cares about being known, when you can have flesh and bone versions of yourself running around.
The gene pool remembers what the culture has forgotten.

That is a valid form of remembrance but totally different from the kind people have of da Vinci which was the context of the question.

We are not our art or our name, but our ability to create art and names. Our children embody that ability. A painted, named, piece of linen does not.
