We didn't get nuclear winter because we didn't have global thermonuclear war, which is the only thing that any scientist ever claimed could cause nuclear winter. And nuclear winter is _still_ a bigger existential risk to our species than global warming. IMHO.https://twitter.com/DineshDSouza/status/1193312381918732290 …

Remember nuclear winter? Of course you don’t. That’s because it didn’t happen. Yet it was all the rage on the Left in the 1980s. A generation from now, no one will recall climate change either, and for the same reason. The apocalypse has become a political racket! pic.twitter.com/7vXR5u8Dvo

While "no one will recall climate change" is nonsense, I'll just put out these 2 predictions for 2040: 1) we will have had a lot more climate change 2) will still be plenty of people loudly claiming there has been no climate change

Nuclear winter also wasn’t some lefty talking point, it was an actual undisputed threat to humanity

It’s an unsolvable problem. No one is giving up their nukes.

Nuclear stockpiles have been reduced by more than 2/3 since 1990.

An acquaintance of mine on the Nonproliferation Task Force avows that nuclear war is a FAR greater danger and more likely event today than it was at any point during the Cold War.

The ozone hole was another “existential threat” that didn’t happen. In the late 60’s there was a book published called “The Population Bomb.” that predicted by 1980 mass world-wide starvation and the collapse of civilization.pic.twitter.com/C89ayvHDmH
