Would you say the same of evolutionary psychology? I know some people there want to build cumulative knowledge, but very often what I find in evopsych is political activism disguised as science.

All scientists have some political biases; the question is whether a field is systematically, institutionally driven by one particular ideology. Ev Psych is extremely ideologically diverse, so no one political view is dominant.
