LA is all the worst parts of a city coupled with all the worst parts of a suburb. Though, I understand that San Francisco has basically the same problem.

Categorically LA. The dominant industries, the shallowness, the lack of principles, the lack of "community," The mismanagement of crises, the mismanagement of money, etc...and I full acknowledge my bias as a transplant living here.

Yeah same. I think the key word there is misanthropic. Other cities I’ve been in just made me depressed cuz snow and proximity to prevalence of substance abuse, but it’s frustrating here cuz I swear it could be so much better if people got shit together

In that case I suspect you're going to all the wrong places when you visit. Having lived in Chicago,DC,NYC,SF,Hawaii+lots more, I think Vegas is drastically underrated. Ping me next time you're in town if you want a tour of the good stuff!
