I can totally believe gaming, whatever game, doesn't make you violent, but it's hard to buy that there isn't some effect in dissociating 'gamers' from their family, society, community when they aren't interacting with actual humans for large chunks of time.
I'd say it's the mountain dew + sedentary + low social-status (for now, akin to how weed used to be a "fringe" drug and now it's literally mainstream like eating cheeto's). Those people aren't going to do anything, let alone the expenditure it takes for violence.
