You didn't even read my article did you? Polyamory is not polygamy.
Did you miss the bits in my article where I talked about technological & social developments that might have changed the cost/benefit ratio on monogamy?
Thanks for not just using the made-up statistics that often get trotted out in the pro-poly debate. But some of your statistics are not as strong as an endorsement of poly lifestyles as you make them seem. And without longitudinal data you can't conclude this is a stable trend
We need a lot more research on poly, no doubt. It's hard to get research funding, since it's such a stigmatized subculture.
Monogamy is a foundational part of European/white/Western civilization. Actually, call it what they used to: Christiandom. We can be secular and use the name as the descendants of it, recognizing we aren't who we are without what it was.
Which kind of monogamy? Greek? Roman? Medieval? 17th century? 19th century? 1950s? 2000s? They're all rather different, and if monogamy can be updated so radically across the centuries, how is any particular form of it 'foundational'?
The breakdown of monogamy is the existential threat, not the growth of polyamory, which is just an effect. The breakdown is already here and rapidly expanding, driving much of the decay we're seeing elsewhere in the society. People give up. Most men don't have your resources.
Polyamory means more women for some men and no women for others.
