What age are we talkin here?

Start voting at age 10. Make it a habit before puberty imposes its nihilism and apathy.

huh i did exactly the opposite - put voting 'last', reason being it affects other people, not just yourself.

Also. Perhaps shouldn’t vote until you’ve been legally allowed to experience the factors that might be relevant to those of us who have to keep infrastructure working and stuff.

Counterpoint: Parents have stake in their kids' future and actually think about it that way, whereas kids tend to be shortsighted and impulsive
-
Counter-counterpoint: Is a society where voting is this important going to produce a healthy future for parent or child?

Based on this logic one could claim children’s votes should count more than adults since they have a greater stake in the future. Voting requires the maturity of having knowledge, both abstract & practical, & the ability to reason. If anything the voting age should be raised.
-
Maturity does not correlate with age once you are an adult. I trust the vote of the median 16 yo as much as the median 80 yo.

Disagree. The common man has a stake in society's future, yet is absolutely irresponsible with his decision making. He should not be given the vote until he can prove responsibility, per the original rules. Kids likewise have a stake, but shouldn't be given the vote either.
-
And who decides one is responsible enough or not?
