I don’t think the pics or any consensual sexual arrangement she had mattered, except for it being a staffer. If you live a lifestyle that, if it became public, you would call said release of that info a smear then the problem is you... for doing something you are ashamed of.
Everyone has said and done things in private that they would be embarrassed to see taken out of context and published in a newspaper. That's why we have the concept of 'private life'.

She gave up her private life by running for office. Anyone in the public eye, be it a celebrity or a politician, knows this. She gambled and lost... and on top of that she hates who she is, otherwise there would be no shame.
