Star Trek. No brainer.
-
It's true. Scanning down it's striking how few films are genuinely optimistic about what intelligent life can achieve. Vast majority dystopian.

The world of the Star Trek movies

Plausible though? The replicator and transporter do a lot of work making their utopia and are pure magic.

Passengers. In a future where humanity is sending sleeper ships with 5000 colonies in hibernation pods to populate new earth like planets just because they can sounds pretty amazing.

The Expanse!!!! It’s a tv series on Amazon Prime and series of novels first. Never seen the show but it’s got a cult following. Best space opera of the century. Some parts are obviously dark but the setting is highly optimistic with regard to civilizational progress.

I can’t believe somebody hasn’t already mentioned the expanse. It’s a really well excecuted and popular set of stories. I love the universe building in the way I love LTOR, SOIAF, Hitchhicker’s Guide, etc.
