Simply: he’s just a slick Dem politician who almost won Texas & DNC would rather double down on that method, even if they lose. Beto answers to DNC. DNC would have to answer to Yang/Gabbard. Your story would make a good Netflix comedy, tho...sleeper agent ends up DNC darling.
