The real issue has been Turkey's serious political shift since Erdogan's taken power. Started slowly but gained a lot of speed in a way antithetical to the west. On NATO: in many ways it's defunct and not doing the task for which it was originally chartered.

If you're trying to say that there were plans for Turkey to join the EU, that is untrue. There are no plans for this to happen. This was a lie which was used to frighten people in the UK and they would then vote to leave the EU in the referendum 2016.
