I wouldn't call it 'toxic', I'd just call it 'monogamist mating norms' or something more neutral. Let's have an honest debate about monogamist norms, instead of taking them for granted or demonizing them.

Do you feel that polyamorous culture or a reformed monogamous culture would strengthen two-parent families? Is this one of the reasons you are in favor of it? Do you see it as a way to strengthen the family unit for the sake of children?

Maybe it's how I was raised, but none of the things listed have been norms in any of my relationships, and I've had some pretty unhealthy relationships.

But its not saying that monogamy is inherently toxic, its saying that these specific dating norms, mostly divulged by monogamous relationships, are toxic. No?

Yeah, that was more my take. There is linguistic ambiguity in an adjective: Is it a comment on the subject, or a subset of the subject? As a subset, those-behaviors-that-are-harmful-and-common-to-monogamy is a mouthful

Yes. It is as foolish to label monogamy "toxic" as were APA guidelines claiming normal male behaviors R toxic. It may be, for any productive discussions on behavioral topics, we need to exchange word "toxic" for something like "challenging." Challenges can be understood/overcome.
