Does anyone have a work-life balance policy for their lab (eg lab members will not request one another to do urgent work on evenings and weekends without prior agreement?) I want to add something like this to my lab manual to promote well being. Please share examples below...
I often tell grad students that if they're getting above an A- in grad courses, they're probably investing too much time in coursework, and they should take more time for their own lives and relationships. They often think grades are still important. They're not.
A blanket statement like this is mistaken at best. GPA is pretty important if you: a) Want to maintain your scholarship. b) Don't want to be booted from a program that requires you to maintain a certain GPA. c) Want to be recruited by companies that only look at the top grads.
Never heard of anything like this in my field.
