Democracy creates the necessity for propaganda. If “the people” are given a voice then that voice must be managed.
Obvs, the more important propaganda becomes in governance, the more the 'deep state' spreads out from 'official government' into 'unofficial government' (media, K-12, academia, tech). It's not so much Right vs. Left as unaccountable deep state (broadly construed) vs. democracy.

Not that this invalidates the merits of the claim, but it’s a slippery slope from there to Info Wars. How much of this is a concerted effort vs individuals acting in their own self interest?
