Western nations bled their patriots dry by exporting their income to China. Economists, politicians, academics, sociologists, and corporate lobbyists knew exactly what would follow from exporting these jobs. Each one was aware of what they were doing.

Patriotism unfortunately can't mask the growing wealth inequality in Chinese society. Nationalist rhetoric had been ratcheted up to such a degree under Xi that foreign expats are having to leave due to xenophobia. See
