First thing that popped into my head was a large bar with food, activities like pool tables and cornhole, a dance floor, etc. You'll see socializing, eating, competition in sport and for sexual interests, how couples behave (mate guarding) compared to single people, etc.

“For a few hours” renders this a very different question, quite distinct from ‘for a semester’ or ‘for a decade’. Strip club might provide the best chance of getting some useful insight, but even then, hours isn’t the right timescale, and many would derive a false insight first

Dear Tim, I am very fan of your work, myself a Brazilian. I do not agree... favela should only be used as how not to manage politics. (+corruption) My answer would be a prison. Also, very against paid tour in the favelas.
