Polyamorous people: Does being polyamorous feel like 'a choice,' like you could switch off being poly if you wanted?

It's much closer to an identity for me. It feels utterly beyond my ability to shut off. As soon as I heard what poly was I instantly knew that was me, no question, and I've never once felt any doubt about it since that moment. I can't imagine myself monogamous.
