It’s a benefit offered by the employer. More and more employers forgo that benefit and offer employment via contracts and then pay no health insurance. Now the risks and cost fall on the contractor. An employer that provides health insurance is not a bad thing.

I'm not saying the employers who offer health insurance are bad. I'm saying the way the US has tied health care insurance to employers is a bad thing, in part because it leads firms to reclassify workers as contractors, part time, and so on.
