I'm not sure why this is being presented as a gendered thing. People have interests, they pursue those interests and meet like minded individuals, group bonding may or may not happen. Repeat.

I've found that certain strips clubs can elicit loyalty and community from men. Years ago, a tornado knocked out the local power station, and this hole-in-the-wall strip club dive that I frequented (I was doing field research on wayward women) was without electricity.

All of us pulled our vehicles up to the doors and windows and turned our headlights on which flooded the joint with light. One guy went to his workplace and brought back a generator. The show must go on.
