That's the difference between the parties, in a nutshell.

Preamble to the US Constitution: "to promote the general welfare . . ."

Especially since, historically, when politics has tried to improve the lives of some it’s been at the expense of others.

"This just in. . ." The system has been broken for a LONG time. Politics is about career politicians building their power and bank accounts. And selling the 'influence and agenda' to their financial supporters. The voters and the 'good of the nation' are the lowest priority.

Politics is about giving all power to the central government so they can do what's best for us.

And here I thought politics is supposed to be about the political elite using gifts from the public treasury to bribe the citizenry into accepting their own enslavement.

Sounds kind of far right to me.
