The US is still responsible for a significant and outsized proportion of global emissions, and maintains power (albeit diminished) for setting international rules and trends. Climate change needs to be addressed globally, both by the US and Asia. But you know all this.

Actually it has. Notice the oddly specific start year for that claim, check the actual graph and its obviously a cherry-picked stat. There's an upward trend which is clear from the larger dataset.

I'm not against China taking leadership in fighting the biggest issue if our century, though. It's pretty clear that we can't expect the US to act like a responsible country.
