Many public universities (which are arms of the state) now require candidates for faculty positions to pledge their 'commitment to the values of equity, diversity, & inclusion'. Is this an unconstitutional form of 'compelled speech' (a political litmus test)?

If you think it's illegal, just sue. Whipping up Twitter anger won't do anything.
'Just sue' implies I've for three years and half a million dollars to pursue a case... sometimes it's better to recruit some help through social media
